When people perform christening (naming of children) they do so informed by many factors such as favourite novel characters (e.g Romeo and Juliet) film stars (Denzel) celebrities.

An intriguing league is of names that are an expression of fateful events, misfortune bad events in the surrounding of the parents like JABEZ (pain, marwadzo) Benjamin (son of my trouble) Nhamo (Trouble) Makanyara, Muchaneta etc.
Whilst Jabez had no input in the circumstance of his naming in 1Chro4v9(an expression of his mother's pain) he, however, counterpetition the past and claimed a blessing for the present and future in verse 10 and his request was granted
Let us not cry and regret about the past experiences in our surroundings and naming but let us focus on the present and future and shape our destinies according to the promises of God and the new creation law
God has plans for a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. Plans are for the future and not past.
