Growing up in my formative years, I was excited learning about great names and the feats that's made them great imparted to my growing brain.
The likes of Tshaka the Zulu King of the cow horn formation battle strategy, philanthropist and telecoms mogul Strive Masiyiwa, mother Theresa, respected church founder and Christian leader Archbishop Ezekial Handinawangu Guti.
Drawing from a good example of all time good name models it need be known that a great name alone is not enough but what this generation need is a great and a good name. We have a plethora of great names, which are not necessarily good names. One can have a great name because of prowess in a certain area say music, ministry, politics yet it might not be a good name.
One can have a great name turned a bad name. A biblical example is learnt from the one who is the embodiment of all evil and bad things, Satan:- scripture describes him as great "the one in you (Jesus)" is greater than the one in the world(Satan)".The relative term greater means the other is great (Great , greater, greatest).Rev12 "Great Dragon ", yet he is not a good name. History and the present is replete with great yet not good names the likes of the all-time enemy of the Jews, Adolf Hitler great in wrong reasons
In Jewish history, the anointing oil to anoint priests, or kings was actually a perfume, yet the Preacher says.
"A good name is better than fine perfume" Ecclesiastes 7:1 because the smell of perfume is not permanent.
It's not about being anointed only, great exploits, or great charisma or being known but a good name constitutes in all fragrance of good positive influence
In pursuit of greatness in building great names let us not forget that it has to be a good name too that can be passed to our families, nations and generations with a good, memory. Many a times character flaws, lack of integrity impede great names from becoming good names. In all areas of our destiny pursuits business ministry, public office bearing let's always remember a great name alone is not enough. It has to be a full complement of a great and good name
