What a rapturous joy it was to meet, my friend for years Apostle Israel Maravanyika after his return from his tour of duty and was saying to myself "God thank you for such genuine and well-connected friend".
It then just struck me how powerful the influence of friendship can be. This one is one kind that has shaped the trajectory of my life in a positive way
How powerful is the influence of friends? The Preacher asks.
Friends come in many forms:- wartime friends call themselves comrades bonded by their past and experiences, friends nations are called allies. Volunteer friends there for those diseased are called buddies.
The scriptures speak of how bad company (bad friends)corrupts good manners 1Corinthians 15:33. The reverse is an equally true good company (good friends) upholds or improves good manners. It follows then that the influence of friendship can shape us consciously or subconsciously in either a positive or negative way and hence cannot be ignored or belittled.
Our mothers would say to us to shield us from bad morals"I don't want to see you playing with so and so(the notorious rascals of the hood)" and any violation would attract a spanking tickler
If we are not influencing our friends, then reverse influence is taking place they are influencing us. When Jesus was about to leave the earth, he left his Messianic assignment to be continued by a small group to whom he had confided in and imparted his vision who he called friends, his disciples. Friends then are meant to be destiny helpers and support units
We all as humans are created as social beings with a spontaneous vacuum for friendship. We all need someone to laugh with, chat with, share our burdens with. We all need friends yet the choice is with us and if the choice is thus with us we ought to choose good friendship relationships or influence the ones we have in a good way
Jesus Christ is our greatest friend who is always there for us and our great destiny helper.
